Brighton-based, Indian restaurant The Chilli Pickle has so far raised £363,500 of its £700,000 crowdfunding target on Growthdeck.

Kevin Bacon, co-founder of Frankie and Benny’s and former managing director of Jamie Oliver International, has also joined The Chilli Pickle as chairman as the restaurant plans to open four new sites in the next three years.

The Chilli Pickle was first established in 2008 by Alun and Dawn Sperring, and was inspired by their annual visit to India.

Chairman, Kevin Bacon, said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Chilli Pickle team. Alun and Dawn have established an excellent restaurant concept, which is absolutely ripe for roll out. This year the existing site will achieve over £2.2m of turnover – very few independent provincial restaurants achieve this level of sales.”

The growth plan assumes that the enlarged group can achieve annual profits of £1.3m on turnover in excess of £8m.

The Chilli Pickle was also featured in the first Eat Out On The Road feature in March 2016.
