Pret A Manger and artisan coffee house Takk have been announced as the first names that will open as part of the University of Manchester’s £1 billion campus redevelopment.

Takk will open its second site in the city, serving coffee, breakfast, brunch and craft beer. Pret A Manger will take a 2,500 sq ft unit at the University Green development, which is due for completion next year.

Phillip Hannaway, co-owner of Takk, said: “We could not be more excited to be opening on the redeveloped campus and have the opportunity to bring our passion for incredible coffee and food to a new community. From the design side of things we want to create something completely different to our Northern Quarter site, University Green is going to be an incredible space.”

The openings will take place in the summer of 2018 when the project is completed.
