Collective like-for-like sales grew by 1.7% in February against the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker.

Peter Martin, vice president of CGA Peach, the business insight consultancy that produces the Tracker, in partnership with Coffer Group and RSM, said: “With mounting pressures on the sector from business rate hikes, the falling pound leading to higher food costs and the general uncertainty around Brexit, the fact that consumers are still coming through their doors to eat and drink will be a welcome relief for operators.”
According to the Tracker, restaurant groups’ like-for-like sales were up 2.4% nationally on the same month in 2016, boosted by family business during the school half term holidays. Managed pubs were also ahead over the month, but with collective like-for-likes up 1.2%.
London outperformed the rest of the country with like-for-like sales ahead 2.6% against 1.4% outside of the M25, the report revealed.
The Coffer Peach Tracker collects and analyses performance data from 34 operating groups in the UK pub and restaurant sector.
