Consumers spending more than ever – Carlsberg report finds
03/12/2015 - 09:17
The second annual Carlsberg UK Consumer Insights Report reveals that consumers are spending more out of home than ever before with £145bn spend in the leisure market in 2014.

Pubs remain the number one consumer weekly activity, competing wth coffee shops and restaurants, which are growing in visits ahead of pubs, up 5% and 4% respectively, versus 2% for pubs.

66% stated ‘entertainment should be about learning new things as well as having fun’, and 45% listed the pub quiz as the number one activity choice in the pub.

Quality of food now outranks value for money when consumers outline the most important factors in choosing a pub.

David Scott, director of brands and insight at Carlsberg UK, said: “As a brewer and drinks wholesaler the needs of our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and while the Great British pub prevails, our commitment is to ensure we’re providing insight to keep them one-step ahead.

“The on-trade environment is ever-changing and the variety of occasions and options available to consumers continues to grow, meaning we need to work with pubs nationwide to provide reasons to visit, and return.”
