Covent Garden welcomes London’s first guacamole and tequila bar

Independent Mexican restaurant, Cantina Laredo, hopes to “transport guests to the heart and soul of Mexico” this autumn, as it opens London’s first dedicated guacamole and tequila bar.

Following its recent refurbishment, the Covent Garden-based restaurant has teamed up with Mexican chef, Roberto De La Parra, to create an informal sharing menu centered around the country’s diverse regional cuisines.

To start, its in-house “Guacamaestro” – as dubbed by the restaurant itself – will prepare eight homemade guacamole’s in front of guests, including grasshoppers with grilled avocados, creamy blue cheese with almonds, and pineapple with pomegranate seeds. Other dishes include: aubergine tostadas with green habanero mayonnaise; duck tacos with nutella mole and plums and jumbo prawn with guajillo achiote, before finishing with a chocolate fondant with dulce de leche ice cream.

There will also be ‘Tequilistas’ – tequila experts if you will – to guide visitors through the tequila infusion menu, which features 100% blue agave tequilas and a range of Mezcals, as well as a vast selection of margaritas and other signature cocktails.

Opening this month, the restaurant is available for private hire for up to 150 people, and also has a smaller private dining room which seats up to 14.
