Dinner goes gluten-free at Pizza Hut
Every Pizza Hut restaurant across the UK from Wednesday October 8th will offer the special square-shaped bases, developed in close association with Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with the disease and the company’s expert dough makers.
“This will enable diners to choose a gluten-free option and still experience the Pizza Hut taste,” said marketing manager Victoria Clarke. “Gluten-free diners will still be able to choose from our full range of pizza toppings, thanks to the reformulation of key products like the signature BBQ sauce.
“This ensures there’s a great taste for every pizza-loving palette.
We are extremely proud of our new pizza – the base is fantastic, and the gluten-free toppings are really exciting. Coupled with the gluten-free salad products on offer, we are confident that our customers will like it.”
Coeliac UK chief executive, Sarah Sleet, said: “We know that eating out safely is a top concern for people with coeliac disease, who must follow a strict gluten-free diet for life.
“We are working with the catering industry to help them deliver good quality menu choices for people with coeliac disease and are delighted that Pizza Hut is recognising the importance of catering for this market.”
After close consultation with Coeliac UK and extensive research into customer needs, the new gluten-free pizza base meets the No Gluten Containing accreditation.
