Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's restaurant chain, Jamie's Italian, made pre-tax loses of £9.9 million this year, according to financial results obtained by the Times.

Jamie’s Italian closed six of its 42 restaurants in January, closures which the newspaper says cost the chain £10.9 million.

Revenues and earnings across the business were both reported to be down.

The Times reports that the restaurant business is to be brought under the same management as that of Jamie Oliver Holdings, the television and book publishing business.

Jamie's Italian was founded by Oliver and his Italian mentor, chef Gennaro Contaldo, in Oxford, 2008.
