The Licensed Trade Charity has announced a campaign that encourages those working in pubs, bars and breweries to open up about personal and family problems.

The marketing campaign, entitled  ‘Time to Open Up’, aims to raise awareness of the free resources available to help tackle issues such as illness, relationship problems and debt.

Liz Gaffer, director of marketing at the charity, said: “Successful operators know that offering additional support to employees, and their families is a strong factor in recruitment and retention.

“We know that it’s often not easy to talk about problems but we hope this new, engaging campaign raises awareness of the help we can offer and give people the confidence to open up.”

The charity will be distributing information kits, including POS to pubs and bar chains through major operators to give them the tools to inform their employees about the support on offer, which includes a free helpline, resource website and financial help for those working in the trade and their families.

The campaign goes live next week.
