Marston’s grows revenues by 7%

Marston’s has announced revenue growth of 7% to £905.8 million in its preliminary results for the 52 weeks ended October 1st 2016.

Operating profit is at £172.7 million, growing 4%, and profit before tax has risen 7% to £98.0 million.

Ralph Findlay, CEO said: “We have delivered another year of good growth across the business, with the outstanding performance of our beer company particularly encouraging.

“Trading has been solid in the first few weeks of the new financial year and we have seen no discernible change to the trends experienced in 2016. The majority of our major product cost lines are contracted for 2017 and well into 2018.”

The pub company has a target to open at least 20 new build pub-restaurants in the coming year, including three Revere bars and 5-10 lodges.

Marston’s reports that average profit per pub is up 8% in 2016, which is up around 50% since 2012. 22 new pubs and bars have been completed this year. Like for like sales are up 2.3% in destination & premium, and 2.7% up in taverns.
