North Star Coffee Roasters has opened its first general store and shop featuring an on-site bakery, next door to their roastery at Leeds Dock.

The launch marks a change in operations for the Yorkshire-based company which has been primarily operating as a wholesalers business since 2013.

North Star says that the coffee on offer, which comes from its on-site roastery, is both ethically sourced and ‘freshly roasted to the highest standards possible’.

Next door to the on-site roastery is the company’s purpose-built Coffee Academy that is certified to deliver accredited SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) courses to industry professionals.

The new site will offer a selection of baked breakfast goods from Noisette Bakehouse, founded by former Young British Foodie award winner Sarah Lemanski and recently voted one of the Times 30 best bakeries in the UK.

The new sites will also be using North Star’s recently launched ‘Spotlight’ range which uses 100% recyclable and biodegradable coffee cups.

Holly Bowman, co-founder of North Star said: “We are really excited to open our first retail space at Leeds Dock right next door to the roastery and can’t wait to share all that goes on at North Star with our customers.

“There will be something for everyone from a rotating coffee menu roasted next door, to exclusive Noisette Bakehouse items baked on-site alongside a seasonal food menu and a short but select alcohol list.
