Oakman Inns opens 20th site

The pub and restaurant company Oakman Inns has opened its 20th site, The Anchor, in Hullbridge yesterday (16 August.)

Acquired from private vendors in a confidential, off-market deal, the property was brokered by Paul Breen of Savills.

Oakman Inns's founder and chief executive, Peter Borg-Neal, said: “This is a superb pub and a very exciting addition to the Oakman Inns group. We look forward to working closely with the very talented team at The Anchor.”

The news follows extensive work across the company’s estate, including:

  • Work has commenced on its £1.8m development of of The Cherry Tree in Olney, which is expected to open in Q1 2018.
  • Planning permission gained for the major redevelopment of The Royal Foresters in Ascot. Work on the £5.2m project will begin as soon as pre-commencement conditions are discharged with the opening expected to be in April 2018.
  • Following the acquisition of the neigbouring building, work has begun on a £600k project to extend and refurbish its flagship site, The Akeman in Tring, which celebrates its tenth birthday in December.
  • The Betsey Wynne in Swanbourne reopens this Friday, 18 August after a £1.3 million development to extend and upgrade the property that Oakman took on eighteen months ago.
