Pret a Manger has announced that Nick Candler has stepped down from his role of chief operating officer.

Candler had been with the sandwich shop chain since 2006 when he joined as the group’s chief financial officer, assuming the position of chief operating officer seven years later.

Pret chief executive, Clive Schlee, said: “Nick is the Chairman of COOK and Project Artworks, and will no doubt bring his considerable talents to other non-executive roles too.

“We thank Nick for his vital contribution to our success and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Pret has yet to announce who will fill the position.

First opened in Victoria, London, in 1986, Pret a Manger has around 500 locations worldwide and recorded revenue of £776 million in 2016.
