Restaurant and bar chain, Slug and Lettuce, is celebrating 25 years on the high street by going back to the decade in which it was born.

The first Slug and Lettuce opened in 1985 in Stratford-upon-Avon by entrepreneur, Hugh Corbett and has since grown with a current total of 81 sites across the country. Throughout May, Slug's birthday month, bars across the country will be offering 25% off all food to celebrate and an 80s inspired birthday menu has also been created to transport customers back to the heady days when shoulder pads and Simon Le Bon ruled. Wells & Young's, brewers of Bombardier has brewed a beer to honour Slug's birthday, available at selected sites. Mary Willcock, managing director of Slug and Lettuce said, "I'm proud to be heading up the Slug and Lettuce family as we celebrate 25 years on the high street. Our policy has remained the same since our inception; we pride ourselves in serving quality food in comfortable, safe surroundings with excellent standards and friendly efficient service. "Throughout May, each of our sites have something really special planned for our 25th birthday, so we want to invite customers new and old to pop into their nearest Slug and Lettuce to join us in our celebrations and raise a glass to the next 25 years."
